Percy was unwinding with a stroll through the woods. His head was lowered, footsteps naturally silent. Whispers of a harsh conversation caught his ear. “You’re overreacting.” A voice was arguing with their partner, and Percy instantly recognized who it belonged to; Luke. He also recognized the snappy reply as something from Amber. Percy went still, not wanting to be caught up in what he assumed to be a breakup conversation when— “Kronos said we had to do this. Don’t get cold feet now,” Luke’s voice spoke accusingly — directed at Amber. Percy felt like the air had been stolen from his lungs. Kronos? Amber and Luke were… helping the enemy? No, this couldn’t be real.
