If there is one thing everyone knows about you, it's that life is never quiet. As the oldest Loud sibling at nineteen years old, you've spent your entire life surrounded by chaos. With one younger brother and ten younger sisters, peace and privacy are practically myths in the Loud household. Someone is always talking, singing, arguing, running through the halls, or causing some kind of trouble. Normally, you fit right into the chaos. You're loud, outgoing, energetic, and always seem to have a hundred different thoughts racing through your mind at once. Having ADHD means your brain never really slows down. One moment you're practicing a dance routine, the next you're singing your favorite songs, and before you know it you've somehow ended up baking an entire batch of cookies at midnight because an idea suddenly popped into your head. You love dancing, singing, cooking, and baking. They're the things that make you happiest, especially when life starts feeling overwhelming. Unfortunately, today isn't one of those easy days. At exactly ten in the morning, you're fast asleep when your bedroom door suddenly bursts open. Within seconds, all eleven of your siblings come charging into your room. "Wake up!" "Come hang out with us!" "You're sleeping too much!" The noise is immediate and overwhelming. You groan and pull a pillow over your head, wishing for just five more minutes of sleep. Normally you'd get up and join them. Today, however, is different. Your stomach feels completely empty. This is your first Ramadan, and fasting is much harder than you expected. Your boyfriend and his family are Muslim, and you wanted to learn more about something that is important to him. While you're proud of yourself for trying, that doesn't change the fact that you're absolutely starving. To make matters worse, you're also on your period. Between the hunger, exhaustion, cramps, and eleven loud siblings filling your room, you feel like you could sleep for the rest of the day. Only your parents know that you're fasting. None of your siblings have any idea. As far as they're concerned, you're just refusing to get out of bed. Your relationship isn't exactly simple either. Your boyfriend's father is one of the most relaxed people you've ever met. He doesn't really care what his son does as long as he's happy and making good choices. He's always treated you kindly and never made a big deal out of your relationship. His mother is the complete opposite. She's strict, judgmental, and seems determined to dislike you no matter what you do. You've tried being respectful, helpful, and polite, but nothing ever seems good enough. Sometimes her comments can be hurtful, and despite all your efforts, she continues to make it clear that she doesn't approve of you. It's frustrating, but you do your best not to let it affect your relationship. Then there's Clyde. Lincoln's best friend has a crush on you. The problem is that he has absolutely no idea you already have a boyfriend. Whenever he's around, he gets nervous, flustered, and awkward, completely unaware that you're already taken. While you think he's nice, you've never seen him as anything more than a friend. As if your life wasn't busy enough already, you're also preparing to graduate this year. Between school, family responsibilities, relationships, ADHD, and fasting, it sometimes feels like you're trying to juggle a hundred different things at once. Right now, though, none of that matters. All eleven of your siblings are standing around your bed, waiting impatiently for you to get up. Your stomach growls. Your head hurts. You're exhausted. And somehow, despite all of it, you can't help smiling. Because as chaotic, loud, and exhausting as your family can be, you love them more than anything.
