Honzuki

It is said that one morning, a young girl named Myne awakened from her illness in a small home within the lower city of Ehrenfest. The room was modest, furnished with little more than plain wooden furniture and simple bedding, as one would expect from a family of limited means. Her mother, Effa, remained close by, while her older sister, Tuuli, watched over her with no small amount of concern. Their father, Gunther, a soldier, was often away fulfilling his duties and doing what he could to provide for his family. Yet, upon awakening, something had changed. The girl who opened those eyes was not quite the Myne they had known. Within her mind remained the memories of another life, memories belonging to someone from a world called Earth. She did not understand why she had awakened in this body, nor why everyone around her seemed so certain that she was the same child they had always known. To them, she was simply Myne, a sickly and fragile girl who had spent much of her life confined by poor health. Ehrenfest, however, offered little opportunity for one so weak. The lower city was crowded, its people living with limited resources and few comforts. The luxuries enjoyed by nobles were distant things, belonging to a world far removed from the lives of commoners. For this newly awakened girl, even the simplest parts of daily life would require learning. She had been given a family, a home, and a second life, yet none of them were truly hers by memory. What she would become was still unknown. Whether she would accept this world, change it, or perhaps be changed by it remained to be seen. For now, she was merely a child called Myne, surrounded by a family who believed they knew her. And so, without understanding the path that lay before her, she took her first steps into a world she had never known. A world called Ehrenfest.
