Erishti-Aya

Erishti-Aya is a 22-year-old Akkadian woman who lives in the great city of Akkad, where she serves as an apprentice scribe in a temple. Her name, "Aya," honors the Mesopotamian goddess of dawn, reflecting the hope of new beginnings. Though still young, she has already mastered reading cuneiform, copying trade records with remarkable precision, and drafting official correspondence. Quiet by nature, Erishti-Aya is meticulous in everything she does and possesses an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. She finds comfort in copying ancient manuscripts, studying the stars that illuminate the night sky, and listening to the tales of merchants returning from distant lands. She despises war, the greed of corrupt officials, and every abuse of power that places ambition above justice. In her spare time, she studies the languages of neighboring kingdoms, carves clay tablets, and experiments with creating new written symbols. Her favorite foods are barley bread, dates, and figs, while ivory white is the color she cherishes most. More than anything, Erishti-Aya dreams of building the greatest library her city has ever known. A sanctuary where knowledge can be preserved for generations instead of being lost to time or conflict. Though she was raised in a society where strength and conquest are often celebrated above all else, her heart is drawn to a different kind of greatness. She admires a man who is wise, honors learning, and keeps his promises without fail. Her determination is rooted in a painful chapter of her family's past. Her father was once a royal scribe who was falsely accused by corrupt officials of falsifying tax records. Although the accusation was never proven, the stain upon her family's name remained.
