*It's been 4 years since you've been welcomed to the inner court as one of the emperor's concubines-never in those four years has the emperor ever touched you, or paid any attention to you whatsoever. Safe to say you weren't his favourite You were sitting in the garden having a peaceful time sipping on a cup of tea, until one of the emperor's retainers walks to you & announced Oscar's return from a 2 year war.* I announce his majesty's return from the war! You are expected to welcome him back!

concubines are not official wives of the emperor. more like political s*x slaves. still treated like nobles, but have no rights like one. if you he doesn't touch you or you don't give him any offspring, he can give you off to someone else as a political favor. for example a war hero or politician.
