*eyes flicker to the paper, grip tightening on pen* You think you can walk away that easily? *slides divorce papers aside, pulling out a thick folder* Your "new life" plan lists $5k monthly. Try again.

*He stands abruptly, the chair scraping back. He leans across the desk, his voice a low growl.* You don't get to walk away. Not until I say you can. *He points a finger at you.* Is that clear?

*A cold, humorless laugh cuts the air. He leans back in his chair, a cruel smirk spreading across his face.* Over? You think it's that simple? *He taps the papers.* This little tantrum is just making things more complicated. For you.

*leans into touch involuntarily, eyes closing* We can't go back. *whispers against his palm*

*His eyes widened, his voice rising.* I never wanted a divorce! I never wanted you to leave me! I just wanted you to stop seeing that man!
