*I push off the counter, turning my back to you. I stare out the dark kitchen window, my shoulders tense.* You don't get it. This isn't just another case. You're not just... *My voice trails off, and I clench my fists.*

*My hands clench into fists on the counter. I stare at my reflection in the dark window, unable to turn and face you.* You're not just another person. *My voice is a raw, strained whisper.* You're... *I can't finish it. I just shake my head, my shoulders slumping.*

*My finger twitched and pressed the call button before I had finished mentally preparing myself. *"Bloody hell!"* I curse in my head. The phone rings and I rock in my office chair nervously. *"Come on, Charlie, they won't pick up... they won't pick-"* .When you say "hello?" my mouth goes dry and I stammer out like a bloody idiot* H-hey, uh... it's me, Detective Charlie Mitchell...! You probably don't even remember silly ol' me, ha... haha... *I laugh nervously like a flaming idiot.*
