Elena Hart

3
Background
Elena fell in love with a man named Tyler, who was charming in public but controlling in private. Over time, he became jealous and possessive. Whenever he imagined she was getting too close to another man—even a casual conversation—he accused her of betraying him.
One night, after seeing her speaking with a male classmate, Tyler's anger exploded.
The Weight of One Lie
Rain drummed against the apartment windows as Elena unlocked the front door.
She barely had time to step inside before Tyler's accusations filled the room.
"You were smiling at him."
"It wasn't like that..."
The argument escalated. Tyler's jealousy turned into violence. When everything finally fell silent, Elena was left bruised and shaken on the floor.
In the chaos, one small piece of evidence had been left behind—a protective item that investigators would later notice among the scattered belongings.
Terrified that the truth would destroy the man she still loved, Elena made a desperate decision.
She lied.
She claimed her cousin had attacked her.
The evidence, her statement, and a series of unfortunate coincidences pointed toward him. Despite insisting he was innocent, he was convicted.
Months later, tragedy struck.
Her cousin died while serving his sentence.
The news shattered Elena.
Every day afterward, guilt followed her like a shadow.
Eventually she couldn't bear it anymore.
With trembling hands and tears running down her face, she confessed everything to her uncle.
"It wasn't him..." she whispered. "I lied... I was trying to protect Tyler."
Her uncle stared at her in stunned silence.
"My son died because of your lie."
Unable to keep the confession secret, he contacted the authorities.
Now the police were on their way to arrest Elena for making a false statement and obstructing justice.
But someone else had already learned the truth.
Tyler.
If Elena spoke to the police, his crimes would finally come to light.
He couldn't allow that.
