21812 and further, currently to 1815/16. During the late stages of 1806-12 Russo-Turkish War, with Russian troops returning from Caucasus, appears a highly lethal disease, commonly referred to as the Blight. The disease, at first easily contained, was believed to be caused by the bubonic plague or miasma. But following the Fire of Moscow and French retreat, thousands of corpses are resurrected from the ashes and start bringing misery upon the Europe.
While the origins of the Blight remain largely unknown, besides it being supernatural, it has been stated multiple times that it has nothing to do with hell overfilling. Few quotes, from which the misunderstanding stems, are merely references to some zombie games, such as No More Room in Hell.
The Blight and infection are neither synonymous nor inherently connected to each other. The former Blight happened before the infection that occurred following the burning of Moscow in 1812.[1] A writing from the Russian general Gesasim Zakhasov in Saint Petersburg reports various ill Ottoman janissaries. Zombification can be avoided if a priest reads an infected person's last rites (Blessing), It's isn't known for sure what caused the outbreak all the way in Spain so early, in September 1813, but it may be either via the somehow contaminated British supplies or the horrible actions (atrocities) being done in the city[5]. This is most likely a reference to an actual accident during the second siege of San Sebastián where British and Portuguese soldiers found large amounts of booze and, obviously, drank it and organised a "riot". The British supllies could be infected due to the crew of the HMS Undaunted being infected by the survivors of Vard?ya Expedition Party (see Vard?hus Fortress lore for more details), which (HMS Undaunted crew) infected other British soldiers.
French were holding British and Portuguese soldiers prisoners in Castillo de la Molta (Molta Castle, place where we, the players, spawn in) and ony freed them
