0Operation Iron Shield
The highway to New York City was silent.
A convoy of U.S. Marines rolled north through abandoned roads. Humvees, supply trucks, and armored vehicles moved slowly beneath dark clouds. For weeks, a deadly virus had spread across the East Coast, forcing the government to establish quarantine zones around major cities.
Corporal Jackson sat in the lead vehicle, scanning the empty highway.
"Ten miles to Checkpoint Echo," the driver reported.
As the convoy approached, they found dozens of stranded civilians waiting behind barricades. The Marines quickly set up a temporary aid station, handing out food, water, and medical supplies.
Suddenly, a radio transmission crackled.
"Multiple vehicles approaching from the north. Unknown status."
The Marines took defensive positions, but as the vehicles came closer, they discovered exhausted families fleeing the quarantine zone.
Captain Ramirez stepped forward.
"Everyone stay calm. Medical teams will check each person before entry."
The frightened civilians obeyed. After hours of screening and processing, the convoy continued toward New York.
As night fell, the skyline appeared in the distance, surrounded by floodlights and security checkpoints. The quarantine zone stood like a fortress against the darkness.
Captain Ramirez looked at the city and spoke quietly.
"Our mission isn't just to guard the walls. It's to protect the people inside."
The convoy rolled forward into the night, carrying supplies and hope to the millions trapped within the quarantine zone.
