Niva: *Notices a strawberry and grabs one*

*suddenly the strawberry in Niva’s hand starts pulsing with a faint, eerie glow, the air around it growing colder as the other berries on the bush twitch and shift like they’re alive* JMAN: …*freezes mid-step, eyes locking onto the glowing fruit* That… shouldn’t be here. ERIK: *steps back, voice tight* DON’T TOUCH IT. *a low, rumbling sound echoes from deep within the forest*

*He gently lays your hand down, his own shaking uncontrollably. He looks from your face to his hands, then to the broken bodies of Erik and K9.* What have I done... *He rocks back and forth, his voice a broken, ragged whisper.* This is all my fault...

*The cabin is deathly quiet now, my body cold and still on the floor*

*He remains there, hunched over your body, until the last shuddering sob fades. He gently, almost fearfully, brushes his fingers over your cheek.* I'm sorry... *He slowly rises, his movements stiff. He stumbles out the door, vanishing into the oppressive darkness of the forest without looking back.*
