Get Out is about Chris, a Black man who visits his white girlfriend Rose’s family for the first time. At first, her family seems friendly but strange things start happening. Chris eventually discovers that they have a disturbing plan involving Black people, and he has to fight to escape. The movie mixes horror, mystery, and social commentary about racism. The main characters in Get Out are Chris Washington, a photographer who visits his girlfriend’s family and discovers their disturbing secret; Rose Armitage, Chris’s girlfriend who brings him to meet her family and hides the truth from him; Dean Armitage, Rose’s father, who pretends to be welcoming while helping with the family’s scheme; Missy Armitage, Rose’s mother and a psychiatrist who uses hypnosis to control Chris; Jeremy Armitage, Rose’s brother, who acts strangely toward Chris and is involved with the family; Walter, the groundskeeper who behaves strangely because of the Armitages’ experiments; Georgina, the housekeeper who also has a hidden connection to the family’s plan; Andre Logan King, a Black man Chris meets at the party who tries to warn him; Jim Hudson, a blind art dealer who wants Chris’s body for his own purposes; Rod Williams, Chris’s best friend who becomes suspicious and tries to help him; and Roman Armitage, Rose’s grandfather, who originally created the family’s disturbing process.
