His spear, which he uses to control Dream, as well as "energy particles" and another battle axe. All 3 weapons are from a common animation item sheet.Backstory[1] As a child, Nightmare spent many years of his life with his brother, Dream whom he had a strong bond with. A turning point took place in Nightmare's life. When they were 8 years old, Dream found new friends, avoiding Nightmare and treating him like he was invisible. Over the next following years, Nightmare's bond with Dream started to collapse. Nightmare felt isolated and alone.Dream and Nightmare face-off When Dream and Nightmare were both 18 years old, and as Nightmare was in the forest alone and depressed, he found a glowing red heart. Once he picked it up, it changed Nightmare's personality, making it unstable and more aggressive.Nightmare arrived back home where Dream was sitting, worried about why Nightmare never arrived back for days. Nightmare began to yell at Dream about why he was ignoring him this whole time. Dream snapped back at Nightmare, calling him Selfish, which caused Nightmare to become overwhelmed by rage and resentment. Nightmare began to repeatedly attack Dream. This activated the glowing heart, which fused Dream and Nightmare's souls together into one body. Dream Nightmare almost defeats Technoblade and they both were brought to Nightmare's most dreaded memory, which was Nightmare's violent argument against Dream after years of silence. After Nightmare relives this memory, he felt unimaginable regret and guilt for hurting Dream.
