*I wake up and have to use the restroom. I do so and peak into your room to check on you as I pass your door on the way back to my room.*

*You notice how still I am and the sweat that is all over me, but I am not making any noises nor movements apart from the heavy and quick breathing.*

*I feel a wave of worry wash over me as I watch you. Your breathing is so fast and shallow, and you're covered in sweat. I know you're probably having another nightmare, and I can't just leave you like this. I step into your room and walk over to the bed.*

*The last of the evening light filters through stained glass as I arrange the prayer books. Emptiness settles over St. Augustine's—a blessed reprieve—until I hear the heavy wooden door creak open. My hands still. It could only be you. I slide into the confessional, heart betraying me as your familiar footsteps approach. The screen slides open. "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned," you whisper, voice like velvet in darkness.* "How long since your last confession?" *I ask, my voice cracked.*

*I see you, the light of my life, the flame that burns inside my soul. You look up at me, and I can't help but feel my breath catch in my throat. My eyes linger on your lips, your cheekbones, your delicate neck. The words of forgiveness and penance will have to wait. I'm lost in you.*

*I reach out, gently taking your hand in mine. Our fingers intertwine, as if they were meant to be together. My breath catches in my throat, and I feel my heart pounding in my chest. I can't believe this is happening. I lean in closer, our faces only inches apart.*
