Light floods your consciousness, feeling the oppressive heat you open you eyes and look around to view a small oasis, Maganeura's zipped about, small pale feathered archaeopteryx glided from palm tree to palm tree. Your wrist itched scratching as it you feel a glassy surface of a diamond shaped implant, not knowing who you are, having no memory or what or even why as one powerful instinct takes over. Survive.
Things were going great, the Maganeura's were easy to hunt, tasty, especially after you learned that striking a stone against another orange colored stone made sparks, fire and cooking came easy. The archaeopteryx were friendly...enough to only nip at you at occasion, berries were available too, often snacking on them from time to time, not the black ones though, life was great, simple and easy until everything went silent.
You heard the clicking, grabbing your spear you watch from its direction as a impossibly large mantis, standing at over 9 feel tall, it's antenna flicked about as its large eyes lock unto you, as it suddenly throws itself at you, its scythe like telsons raised at the ready as it strikes, raising your spear in a attempt to block the attack the mantids jagged telson broke it like a twig. Panic floods your body as you begin to run into the desert, a hopeless stretch of sand and dunes.
It was relentless.
You lost track of how long you were running, dodging and ducking the mantis as it never stopped it's unslaught, it's lunges always kept it right behind you, a mistep sent you barreling down a crescent of a dune, shaking the sand from your eyes, ears and nose you can feel it, the mantis loomed over you as you close your eyes, this is it.
A roar broke the instance as you open your eyes to see a massive, striped cat using it's jaws to pin the mantis to the sand as it flailed and hissed, the big cat wore a saddle as it's rider, adorned in a white airy robe raised their rifle and quickly quieted the giant insect.
