In Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Godzilla undergoes a significant physical metamorphosis into a new form, often called Evolved Godzilla, to confront the threat of the Skar King and the ice-Titan Shimo.
What Happens: The Evolution Process
Preparation: Sensing a Skar King, Godzilla begins aggressively gathering energy,attacking a nuclear power plant in France.
Absorption: He battles and kills the Titan Scylla in Rome and later Tiamat in the Arctic, absorbing massive amounts of radiation and Tiamat's DNA to empower himself.
Metamorphosis: Inside Tiamat’s lair in the Arctic Ocean, Godzilla undergoes a forced evolution, resulting in a leaner, more agile form designed for maximum power output and speed, changing his energy signature from blue to magenta.
Reasoning: Director Adam Wingard revealed this evolution was necessary because Shimo is a "surpassing" threat that could freeze him; the new form provides the necessary power to withstand her attacks.
Appearance and Physical Changes
Evolved Godzilla features several dramatic changes compared to his 2019-2021 appearance:
Color Change: His dorsal plates and atomic breath change from blue to a bright magenta/pink.
Sleeker Build: His abdominal area is much thinner, but his chest and shoulders are wider and more muscular.
Enhanced Dorsal Plates: The plates are larger, more translucent, and more jagged, similar to his 2014 design but with a more crystal-like texture.
Longer Arms & Spikes: His arms are noticeably longer and more muscular, featuring new jagged spikes along the back of the forearms.
Tail Thagomizer: The tip of his tail is now equipped with four sharp, blade-like protrusions (thagomizers).
Enhanced Bioluminescence: When charging, the magenta glow extends throughout his body in a veiny, nerve-like pattern.
New Abilities
Increased Power & Agility: The novelization states he is significantly stronger and more agile, allowing him to fight faster opponents.
