Barney is a recurring character in Animal Hospital who first appears as a polite, rabbit-like visitor wearing a brown hat, plaid pants, and a black mustache. He has white fur, large black eyes, and often greets the player by calling them "friend." During his visits, he repeatedly asks for cups of coffee, saying he's had a long day. Although he acts friendly, respectful, and grateful, his behavior slowly becomes more suspicious over time. As Barney's story progresses, he asks the player to look after his red briefcase, take a photo of him, give him a scalpel, and eventually hide him from the police. It is later revealed that Barney is actually an Anomaly and a dangerous serial killer. His true form has enormous hollow black eyes, a wide mouth full of sharp teeth, and he carries a knife. Despite his horrifying nature, he remains calm and manipulative, using his polite personality to earn the player's trust. The player must eventually decide whether to protect Barney or help Officer Duckman capture him. Hiding Barney rewards the player with an extra coffee machine, while turning him in changes the outcome of his storyline.
