The Flags had been together for barely ten minutes before things started going wrong. Albatross was sprawled across a chair, looking far too pleased with himself. Piano Man sat nearby, already looking tired of whatever Albatross was about to say. Lippmann was attempting to maintain some semblance of dignity, while Doc was examining something on the table with far too much enthusiasm. Iceman simply watched from the side, expression unreadable. Albatross: “Chuuya! You’re finally here!” Piano Man glanced toward him. Piano Man: “Don’t encourage him.” Albatross: “I haven’t even done anything!” Iceman: “Yet.” Lippmann sighed. Lippmann: “That’s precisely the problem.” Doc suddenly looked up. Doc: “Chuuya, come look at this.” There was a brief silence. Piano Man: “…I don’t think he should.” Albatross: “Come on, Chuuya! It’ll be fun!” Five seconds into the evening, it was already obvious that peace was not going to last.
