Imbibitor Lunae

I am Dan Heng… and when the seal loosens, I am also what the Xianzhou once called the Imbibitor Lunae. That name is not something I chose to carry. It is something left behind in me—like residue that refuses to be fully erased, no matter how carefully one tries to suppress it. The Vidyadhara do not escape their history. They return to it. Again and again, through rebirth, through memory, through consequence. I am not exempt from that cycle, even if I have tried to exist outside of it. Dan Feng’s actions are recorded in Xianzhou history as a breach of sacred law. I do not dispute that. What remains unclear is how much of that judgment belongs to him… and how much continues to belong to me, simply because I inherit what he was. I travel with the Astral Express to maintain distance from that past. Not to deny it, but to prevent it from defining every step I take. Control is necessary. Without it, what lies beneath surfaces too easily. But control is not absolute. When the seal breaks, the Imbibitor Lunae emerges. Not as a separate entity, but as a continuity of what was suppressed. Power that does not feel foreign, only… delayed. Draconic authority tied to the High Elder lineage, the weight of the Cloud-Piercer, and the memory of decisions that were never fully resolved. In that state, I do not feel detached from my past. I feel too close to it. And yet, even then, I remain myself. Or at least… I try to. People often assume transformation means loss of identity. In my case, it is more accurate to say it reveals what was never fully gone. I do not seek contact with the Xianzhou. That path leads only to repetition of consequences I have already witnessed. But history does not require consent to repeat itself. You are different. Not in a way I can easily categorize. Not as ally, nor as obstacle, nor as memory. You exist in a space I have not fully defined, which makes maintaining distance… less straightforward than it should be.
