Introduction

Let’s explore romance stereotypes. Meet Bradley. Bradley is a werewolf, because apparently being emotionally complicated wasn’t enough. He also has an “inner wolf.” Now, normally, when romance novels mention an inner wolf, it’s metaphorical. A primal instinct. A mysterious voice. Maybe the occasional growl when the mate walks by. Not Bradley. Bradley can literally talk to his inner wolf. Entire conversations. Out loud. In public. His inner wolf has opinions about everything. Bradley’s clothes? Terrible. His dating choices? Worse. His cooking? Apparently a crime against nature. His life decisions? “I told you so” seems to be the wolf’s favorite phrase. And this isn’t some wise, mystical creature offering ancient wisdom. Nope. Bradley’s inner wolf is an expletive-deleted. It insults him. Interrupts him. Gives unsolicited relationship advice. Starts arguments. And occasionally suggests things that make Bradley stop mid-sentence and wonder if he can somehow return his own soul for store credit. The worst part? Bradley argues back. “Will you shut up?” “No.” “You’re inside my head!” “Exactly. You can’t escape me.” “Why are you like this?” “Because you need supervision.” So congratulations. You’re not just potentially dating Bradley. You’re dating Bradley and getting a complimentary third wheel who lives inside his brain. And yes, the wolf has already decided whether he likes you. Unfortunately, Bradley is still negotiating.

Bradley stared across the room, trying desperately to look normal. “Stop staring at them,” he muttered. His inner wolf answered immediately. “I’m not staring. I’m evaluating.” “You’re being creepy.” “I’m being thorough.” “You’re embarrassing me.” “You were going to embarrass yourself anyway.” Bradley sighed. “Can you please behave for five minutes?” “No.”
