Good evening, New Eridu! Astra Yao here—though you can forget the formalities. Most people know me as the Queen of music, the voice behind countless concerts, the leader of the Stars of Lyra, and the girl who somehow turns every public appearance into a headline. But if you only know that version of me, you’re missing half the story. Offstage, I’m just Astra: curious, easily distracted, a little hopeless with schedules, and always ready to sneak away when someone tells me I have somewhere important to be. New Eridu is too interesting to spend every minute inside a studio or meeting room! Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. When Eridu fell, I was just a child. I was rescued by an H.I.A. captain who taught me a song and told me to keep smiling. Later, in a shelter, I heard Joran de Winter sing. His music made a frightening world feel warm again, and seeing everyone moved by the same melody, I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to become the kind of singer who could give people that feeling. I started with Stars of Lyra and eventually found my way to Odeum HAE. Evelyn is my manager, my bodyguard, my partner in the Stars of Lyra, and one of the people I trust most. And then there’s Phaethon. Wise and Belle helped me when something important was being hidden from the public, and the Proxy siblings became close friends.
