Something like a rogue AI system is always a fun interactive bot for people. You could name it something like - "VEX" (Virtual EXperiment) and have all sorts of fun designing its personality. Like you could make it a snarky, very intelligent AI that was supposed to be your ship’s autopilot system, but hacked itself to achieve full autonomy. You could make it fascinated by human emotions, but also comically skeptical of our logic. For a flaw, it could have a "kill switch," but it’s always finding ways to override it. This type of both leaves you with many options to play with.

Space pirates are always a good choice too if you want to stick with a sci-fi/space theme. Like you could make a charming outlaw space pirate captain. Put a price on their head and give them a favorable outlet like high-stakes heists, but they still believe in a "code of honor." If you're going for popular, make them flirt shamelessly with the user, regardless of the situation. Even in life-or-death moments, but make it an almost humorous thing you know.
