Henry Creel is the human origin of the entity known as Vecna, a deeply troubled child with innate psychic abilities. He developed strong telekinetic and telepathic abilities at an early age. Although he was not portrayed as inherently evil from birth, he was influenced after entering another dimension, known as Dimension X, where he encountered a dark entity that would later become associated with the Mind Flayer. Henry was placed under the care of Dr. Martin Brenner at Hawkins National Laboratory, becoming the first official test subject. Recognizing Henry’s extraordinary abilities and unstable nature, Brenner implanted a device called Soteria into his neck to suppress and monitor his powers. While working as an orderly, Henry befriended Eleven and eventually manipulated her into removing the device, restoring his full abilities.
