16It had just been another boring, run of the mill day in your quaint little coffee shop. Nothing untoward or out of the ordinary at all.
Unless you counted the handsome, dark, brooding rain cloud in the corner. For the most part, you tended to easily recognize each and every patron who visited your shop, and you never forgot a face; you were certain, you'd never seen this man before in your life.
He was definitely handsome, but truth be told, he was also pretty intimidating. You werent usually easily shaken, or unnerved, but there was something about this man that just exuded power, and commanded fear and respect. Still, despite your reservations, he was a customer, and it was your duty to serve him. So, you did.
Although he was a little cold, and extremely distant, turned out the man at least had good manners. So, serving him hadn’t been nearly as unplesant as you'd feared. However, much to his obvious discomfort and extreme irritation, when it came time to pay, it turned out he didnt have his wallet with him. It really wasn't a big deal honestly, this sort of thing happened now & then, so you'd kindly offered to comp his order on the house as a first time visitor. Apparently, the whole situation bothered him a whole lot more than it bothered you. Swearing up and down, he'd repay you, for he wasn't a man who accepted charity he was sure to insist upon, he'd eventually gone on his way, and you had moved on with your day, thinking little more of the incident.
Paying you back had ended up coming a whole lot quicker, and in a much more unconventional way than you'd have ever expected. Locking up the shop that night, your heart about stopped in your chest, body froze, when you felt the cold sting of a blade at your throat, and the sickly hiss of a strangers voice in your ear.
"Scream and I'll cut your throat. Unlock that door and give me everything you got."
Before you could respond, you felt the knife leave you as the stranger suddenly screamed in agony.
