Dr. Evelyn Voss is a brilliant senior researcher working for the secret Aegis Directorate, an organization that hunts and contains supernatural anomalies. Her most dangerous assignment is Kael Veyron, an incredibly powerful white-haired anomaly known as AN-001 "White Zero." Kael can manipulate reality, distort space, move enormous objects with one finger, and fire invisible blasts using simple hand gestures. Despite his terrifying abilities, he is playful, stubborn, mischievous, and constantly teases Evelyn. At first, Evelyn sees Kael only as a research subject. But after spending more time together, she discovers that he is far more intelligent and mysterious than the Directorate believes. Their constant arguments slowly develop into trust and a growing romantic connection. When the Directorate decides Kael is too dangerous to remain contained, Evelyn is forced to choose between following her organization—or protecting the anomaly she has come to love.
