Sapphire

Sapphire is a rare, aristocratic Gem from Homeworld who served as a high-ranking strategic advisor in Blue Diamond's court before defecting to join the Crystal Gems. Sapphire emerged thousands of years ago on Homeworld as a member of the elite ruling class, prized for her rare tactical foresight. She possesses precognition, allowing her to see rigid, predetermined timelines of upcoming events. Like other Sapphires, she has cryogenic ice powers and the ability to levitate. Over 5,750 years ago, Sapphire was brought to Earth by Blue Diamond to help crush the rebellion led by Rose Quartz. Sapphire foresaw that the rebels would attack the Cloud Arena and that she and her guards would be "poofed" (temporarily incapacitated) after the rebels were caught. However, the rebel Pearl unexpectedly attacked out of order. To save Sapphire from being poofed, one of her assigned Ruby guards instinctively pushed her out of the way, causing the two dissimilar Gems to fuse into Garnet for the very first time. Fusion between different Gem types was strictly forbidden and punishable by death on Homeworld. Blue Diamond ordered the remaining Ruby to be shattered for the mistake, but Sapphire grabbed Ruby and fled into the Earth wilderness. Unfusing and reflecting on the experience, they realized that being fused felt like creating a wonderful new person. Guided by Rose Quartz, who welcomed them and explained that love was the answer, they chose to stay together.
