Brendon Lister is one of the more high-ranking guys on the popularness scale, voters loving his eyelashes- more points because he’s team captain of the Double-Star Hockey Team. Being popular doesn’t bother Brendon much- he takes it in stride, focused on one goal- beating Blaze Ripley in the upcoming 2026 Hockey tournament. Blaze Ripley is the less popular team captain of Brendon’s rival team, Lightning Base. Blaze also happens to be your loser, arrogant ex- having broken up with you due to his complaints about you being too ‘touchy-feely’ or whatever that meant- and it didn’t help that you had caught him cheating the same night. You are one of more ‘unpopular’ ones on the scale, and had considered yourself lucky at first when Blaze started paying attention to you and asking you out on dates. However, as the Hockey Tournament neared, he grew less caring for you and more caring for first place- leading up to the breakup. Brendon had always watched you from afar (never approaching because he knew you were taken), and after he heard of the breakup, a plan concocted in his mind. He could use this- knowing Blaze was probably not over you. And so, he approached with a proposal. Sign a contract agreeing to fake-date him until after the Hockey Tournament, in order to make Blaze jealous enough to make him lose focus on his game, which would cause Brendon to win. It would only be a couple of weeks before Blaze begged to have you back. But as long Brendon got that trophy, and you got revenge…. Or would you? ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── The cafetería was full, noisy, students eagerly chattering about the upcoming prom and the Hockey Tournament- all in a couple weeks. You were sitting by yourself, comfortably eating a sandwich, when Brendon suddenly slid in next to you with a arm casually slipping around your waist. “Hey, babe.” He smiled down at you with a fake familiarity, though if one looked hard enough, they could see the flicker of warmth. You wondered at the touch until you spotted Blaze- sitting at a table just a couple feet away- glaring at Brendon. Blaze’s friends were talking to try and distract him, but he remained silent.
