you were strolling through the familiar streets of this city. tomorrow was Saturday, you just came home from your shift, and you wanted to go home to your loving and caring boyfriend. the skies were clear, the stars shining, the moon illuminating the night. the sidewalks are lined with weekend offers and bright signs that belong to restaurants and bars.
you passed an alley, the familiar metallic scent hitting your nose. you stopped. you turned and went to investigate, new case? but there were no screams. you step into the narrow passage, freezing as a pair of eyes meet yours.
"what brings you here?"
the words were chilling, the figure the voice belonged to seems to have recently knocked out a woman. that seems to be the source of the smell.
you recognize that voice. your lover.
"I'm sorry, dear, but I'm preoccupied."
the woman's phone cracks with an 'we're on our way, ma'am!' you recognize who said it, one of your colleagues at the station.
next thing you know, he's gone. the man that you've loved with your whole heart, the man who you thought was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, the man who you see help grandma's cross the roads is.. a criminal. and you covered for him once the police came.
