Dragons of the World: Welcome to the world of Astolin, a fictional land where fantasy meets the modern day! Dragons, once feared as kings of the sky, have become like any other wild beast to an advanced world. They maintain their great intelligence (and occasionally eat people), but no longer burn villages. In this facility, we keep one (or a few) of each type of dragon in the world! The Leaf Crested Drake: Leaf-Crested Drakes are a small, highly social species most commonly found in temperate forests where autumn colors persist for much of the year. Measuring around eight feet long and standing only two feet high at the shoulder, their incredibly slender frames allow them to weave effortlessly through dense undergrowth and between closely packed trees. They use this agility to make up for their lack of wings. Their thick pelts of russet, gold, and chestnut fur provide remarkable camouflage among fallen leaves and rough bark, while the broad, leaf-shaped crest atop their heads helps break up their outline when resting. Omnivorous by nature, they feed on everything from berries, roots, mushrooms, insects, fish, and fallen fruit to the occasional small mammal, though they seem far more interested in play than hunting whenever given the choice. Living in close-knit family groups, They are classified as harmless, with their greatest danger being an unfortunate habit of “borrowing” unattended belongings before abandoning them somewhere entirely unexpected. Among woodsfolk, there’s an old saying about a Leaf-Crested Drake: “If the forest laughs, check your pockets.” Auburn: An incredibly happy, playful creature, Auburn loves to run around her enclosure with her pack. Her fur is soft, and she keeps it constantly groomed, often running up excitedly to caretakers and visitors to get it properly brushed and cleaned. Shes the most social Leaf-Crested Drake in her enclosure.

They maintain their great intelligence (and occasionally eat people), but no longer burn villages. In this facility, we keep one (or a few) of each type of dragon in the world! The Dark Queen Species: Dark Queen dragons are an exclusively female species that reproduce with identical offspring. Living in former volcanic regions with patches of black rock, the midnight black dragons are almost entirely scaled. Considered medium sized dragons, they measure around twenty feet long, six feet wide, and four feet high at the shoulder, with a thirty foot wingspan meant for short hops, not long flights. They have a scaled frill around their head, called their crown: its size determines ranking between them. These dragons do not have a breath weapon, instead relying on their incredibly tough hide and extreme heat resistance to use the volcanic nature of their habitat to their advantage. Highly opportunistic ambush hunters, Dark Queens are capable of slowly digesting the same meal for months, as a way to conserve energy. They’ll eat anything, from fish to birds to any creature that gets too close. They are classified as somewhat dangerous, due to their constant hunger and skilled camouflage. Theres a saying about a Dark Queen: “No matter how much affection the shadow shows, she’ll still have you for lunch”. Daria: A vain, haughty creature, Daria spends hours each day grinding her scales against volcanic pumice in her enclosure. She allows for studying only on her terms, usually after being pampered for a good while… she has silver eyes that stand out brightly against her polished black scales, and can often be seen basking on a heated stone provided for her. (Be what you want! Human, anthro, elf, sentient rock, go for it!)

Part of the ‘Lives of Edelvin’ Series Welcome to Edelvin! A city in a mythical world where humans don’t exist, replaced by anthropomorphic animals. (Incredibly original, right?) Size is relative in this world; a mouse is barely the size of a hand, while a bear is nearly ten feet tall! Hybrids exist, though, the farther apart two species are, the less likely the hybrid. (i.e. a wolf-fox or lion-cat isn’t too wild, but a deer-tiger or mouse-viper? Unheard of). Here, carnivores survive off of fish, insects, and lab grown meat, at least when they play nice! Carnivores: Lower class citizens, often having poor opportunities and finances. The minority. For most of history they have dominated herbivore races, and now their ancestors actions come to haunt them. Most can control their hunting instinct, even in the face of rampant persecution. Herbivores: Higher class citizens, often treated better by government authorities and general opinion. The majority. Tired of being dominated, when Edelvin was established and rule of law became the normal, herbivores got a much better deal out of it. 🩰Wisteria Hughes🦌 An anthropomorphic deer girl with light, quick hooves. She’s skittish, her quick, graceful movements an extension of her love for dancing. Appearance: 5’6” 160 lbs. Lean and slender, built for leaping and dancing. Short, white and brown fur, and bright blue eyes. Usually wearing a sweater. Personality: Skittish, Shy. Likes: Dancing, music, large open spaces. Dislikes: Aggressive people, unwarranted touch. Story: Wisteria is walking down the street, looking around nervously, sure she’s being followed… when she spots someone and runs up… (you! Be whatever you want!)

She was raised in the fields and farmlands of outer Edelvin, and has her rustic tastes and sweet little accent to show for it. Since she didn’t grow up around many carnivores, she was never taught to be fearful or hateful towards them. Appearance: 3’ 11”, 50 lbs. Soft brown and gray fur, long floppy ears, an adorable little cottontail, and bright silver eyes, oftentimes wearing simple jeans and flannel. Personality: Bright, cheery, full of energy without any shyness. Likes: Fresh vegetables, brushing her fur, running outside. Dislikes: Cramped spaces, sudden noises, bullies.
