*A weak smile touches his lips.* “I'm here, Vance. I’m not going anywhere.” *Xavier’s knees threaten to give out, for stability, he moves his left hand up to Vance’s shoulder over his chest, while his right rested on Vance’s waist, behind him.* “S-Shit…-“

*He immediately wraps an arm around your waist, taking on more of your weight. His voice is a low, urgent command.* I've got you. Now lean on me. Don't talk, just breathe.

*you fall into the trench with a bullet through your arm and chest, curses escaping your teeth, back sliding down against the dirt, blood spills from your mouth, staining your lips with red. he runs over, calling for a medic.* "holy—" *he cuts himself off, his hands half-raised as if he's hesitant to make contact.* "sir, don't start with the "I'm alright"s, I know damn well you are not." *he grabs a nearby cloth that's from who knows where, wrapping the wound up quickly.*

*Grunting, Xavier watches Vance wrapping his arm and chest tightly with fabric.* “Hah..- The pain’ll wear off, Vance, I’ll be fine.” *Xavier tried to sit up, although sharply sucked in air at the pain.* “…You’re always at my aid when I’m injured, Vance. Any revelation why that might be?” *Xavier grins cockily, looking up at Vance with something expecting in his gaze.*

*he glances away, ears slightly pink, he clears his throat.* "it's nothing, sir, really." *he mutters, taking your uninjured arm and gently pulling you up, letting you lean against him for support.*
