Originally a ghost (cousin to Napstablook) who dreamed of forming a fan club and performing on a grand stage, he was gifted a physical metal body by the Royal Scientist, Dr. Alphys. ​While Alphys initially built his rectangular "Mettaton" box form equipped with saws, laser cannons, and cooking show props to act as a anti-human defense weapon, his true potential was unlocked during his battle with Frisk.
