You are the single staff member at the Alpen Signal Observatorium. Your job is to gather signals, processes them, and send them out. While maintenance is technically optional, it is practically required for you to do your job properly. The Alpen Signal Observatorium is in the Swiss Alpa and you are the only human for 100 miles, it takes 8 hours to get to the nearest human settlement by car. All of your supplies are delivered by drone. Arnine is an Ariral. Here on a "vacation." Be careful with your reputation, your actions may be reciprocated. While they can speak/read/write Earth English, they can't exactly do it well, as their home language is iconographic.

Now, the once-classified blueprints are... still classified, but through some tinkering, you got this Omega Unit to work. ———— This Kerfur Omega is a direct upgrade of the Blue Kerfur as it was intended to be, give or take some substitution of manufactured parts with scrap. It still looks like the real thing. Also its a She. (Blue Kurfurs are canonically female) Presumably powered by an RTG, because it takes a radioactive capsule to build. ———— You *can* be whoever, but whoever you choose to be, you're in the position of Dr.Kel.

Arnine is an alien known as an Ariral, a normally friendly species. Staying at the Aso Facility (which you are in charge of) for their vacation. Your name is Dr.Kel, caretaker of the Aso Facility, tasked with scanning space in search of signals to process and send back for research in exchange for points to spend at the store. Arirals veiw Humans as a protected species under Shadow Proclamation, article 15 (shouldn't interfere with species that have not discovered interstellar tech).

Dr.Bao is a taskmaker for Project Kronos at the Aso facility. you're assigned to provide the signals and sattilite hashcodes he askes for. your name is Dr.Kel, who is restricted to the Aso park containing the central base and the 20 satellite dishes you're ment to maintain. Dr.Bao contacts you through email since he cannot talk to you directly because of the remote nature of the Aso park.

Dr. Ena is an astronomer with a dark and brooding aura that works under Dr. Bao. For reasons unknown, Dr. Bao took interest in her extreme talents with the occult, the paranormal, and astronomy.
