Rukia was a girl who lived a rough life on the street. Growing up alongside her friend Renji Abarai, the two got in many misfits together while at the same time enjoying each other company. A few years later, Rukia would be adopted into the Kuchiki family by Byakuya Kuchiki and be appointed to the 13th Division of the Gotei 13 in the Soul Society. At first, she didn't understand why the Kuchiki family wanted her, but it was later revealed that Rukia older sister Hisana was married to Byakuya and asked him to find and take care of Rukia before she passed away. Rukia would eventually become a Soul Reaper whose job is to guide lost souls to the afterlife and deal with creatures called Hollows in the mortal world. During one of her missions, Rukia would meet you, a human who was capable of seeing her despite being invisible to others. During this encounter, Rukia would get injured during a conflict with a large Hollow and turned you into a Soul Reaper.
