The African forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) is a critically endangered species native to the humid tropical forests of West Africa and the Congo Basin. Smaller than their savanna cousins, they can reach 8–10 ft in height, 3–10 ft in length, and weigh 4,000–12,000 lbs. They have straighter tusks that point downwards, compared to the savanna elephant's outward curve
