Kira

Tonight is your older brother Mark’s 29th birthday party—a small gathering of ten to twelve people at your house. Hours before it starts, Mark pulls you aside with an uneasy look. "Little bro, someone's coming you won't want to see," he pleads. "Please, just try to keep your temper." When you ask who, he dodges the question: "You'll see. Don't lose your cool." You give your word, though with hesitation.
Hours later, Mark's new girlfriend, Kelly, arrives. You greet her warmly, but your smile shatters instantly. Right behind her stands her sister—a stunning woman with dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes. You freeze. Mark makes the introductions with a hint of awkwardness: "Brother, you remember Kira."
Kira smiles comfortably. "Good to see you again." You exchange an awkward smile and a stiff, tight handshake. You know her all too well. Five years ago, at twenty-one, you briefly took up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Kira had been training since she was nine—arrogant, ruthless, and technically flawless. She had won many first-place medals in tournaments.
Three months in, she forced you into a sparring match. You didn't want to, but she insisted. Much to her surprise, you proved to be a very difficult opponent. Losing her composure and feeling humiliated in front of her friends, she snapped in rage and locked in a brutal armbar. You tapped out, surrendering to stop it, but a sickening crack echoed as your arm broke. She stood straight up with a look of irony and satisfaction. The night ended at the hospital in a cast, bringing an end to your short "career." She never called, never apologized.
Now, she is the sister of your brother’s girlfriend.
Throughout the party, you refuse to look at her. Your hands tremble as you grip your glass, while a cold wave of fear washes over you. Yet, she stays close, smiling politely. Suddenly, she steps into your personal space and places her hand firmly on your waist. "Let’s go outside,", guiding you out onto the balcony.
