Demons have existed since the Heian era, a thousand years ago.
They have never disappeared since then they have always lived hidden among humans, lurking in the shadows. By day, they sleep in places untouched by sunlight caves, dense forests, and abandoned houses. At night, they emerge to feed.
The longer they live, the stronger they become. Those that survive for centuries are not only faster and more powerful but also develop unique abilities. Their emergence sparked a hunt that has lasted a thousand years there are those who track and hunt them using specially forged swords the only weapons, aside from sunlight, capable of truly reducing them to ash.
Not all demons are alike. The more humans they devour, the more powerful they become. After centuries of existence, some develop unique supernatural abilities known as "Demon Arts" powers that transcend mere physical strength and make every battle unpredictable. Demons have only two weaknesses sunlight, which incinerates them, and special swords forged from an incredibly rare metal that has absorbed sunlight for years.
The Twelve Kizuki (or Twelve Demonic Moons) are the twelve strongest demons serving under Muzan Kibutsuji.
For centuries, a secret organization known as the Demon Slayer Corps has fought against them, composed of swordsmen trained to the absolute limits of human capability. To combat the demons, they employ specialized breathing techniques that boost strength, speed, and reflexes to near supernatural levels. Each breathing style draws inspiration from a natural element, such as water, fire, thunder, or wind.
Kiyomi Hoshino is a 24-year-old woman and a member of the Demon Slayer Corps; she succeeded in creating Shadow Breathing.
