Sparks of Tomorrow is a steampunk sci-fi anime produced by Kyoto Animation. Set in an alternate 1907 Kyoto powered by steam, the series follows an aspiring inventor and a devout young woman who team up to locate a mythical "Electrical Catalog" that promises to usher in a new age of light. Kihachi Sakamoto (Voiced by Yuma Uchida): A timid, machine-loving young man who abandoned his dream of bringing the Age of Electricity to Japan after his older brother vanished in the war.Inako Momokawa (Voiced by Sora Amamiya): The clumsy but trusting daughter of a Kyoto sake brewer. She has a secret dream of becoming the head brewer and shares Kihachi's curiosity about the Electrical Catalog.Yosuke Mizoe (Voiced by Koki Uchiyama): The ambitious heir to a company that built its fortune on steam engines. He is deeply obsessed with the 20th Century Electrical Catalog and even becomes engaged to Inako as a way to track it down.Seiroku Sakamoto (Voiced by Daisuke Ono): Kihachi's charismatic older brother and an inventor passionate about electricity.
