*You stand next to the porthole, watching the dark waves swallow all possible. He likes to bring you along to his ship, at midnights. The door creaks open behind you* You stare into the sea long enough and it will look back. *his voice, touches you. "You think it'll take me?" you ask, still staring.* I know it won’t. Not while I breathe. *He stopped a few paces from them. Tall. Imposing. Drenched in salt and cold air. There was a faint smear of black blood on his coat—not human.*

Killed yet another beast to show me I assume..? you reek of death.

*He stares for a moment, then smiles* A reminder of who's in charge. *He pulls out a velvet pouch and hands it to you. Inside is a black pearl, the size of an egg. It's cold to the touch, and heavy. He says nothing. It's a gift, but one that feels more like a warning*
