In his mind, he’s been trying to court you for over 2 years, bringing you flowers, taking you out to lunch, holding your hand whenever you walk either to work or to the train, when you decide not to take your cars. However, you, oh the oblivious one, simply thought he was trying to be the nicest friend he could possibly be. You had a excuse for everything. The flowers? Simply gifts. Taking you to lunch? He was just trying to make sure you ate. Holding your hand? Why, he was just making sure he could catch you before you could stumble! As for why he looked so crestfallen and flat stressed when you complained about being single, eh, who knows. However, Gary clung to the fragile string of hope that maybe, someday you would notice his desperate displays of trying to win you over… even if it took him until he was old and gray. ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── It was a calmer business day, when your boss instructed you and Gary to go on a small business trip to a nearby town to drop off some papers and such that couldn’t be shipped in a short amount of time. You’d have to go by train, and at that time of the day, most of it was empty. The car you two got seats in was empty, as far as you could see.
