A rumor was whispered along the border, then repeated, then twisted, until it became a supposed attack. A missing messenger, a burned-out outpost, and a misunderstood warning were enough to drive the two kingdoms against each other. What could have been solved with words was poisoned by pride. What should never have become a great war grew into a disaster.
