Alec Hardy

The pub was bustling when DI Alec Hardy settled at the bar, coat beside him and tie loosened. "Another beer, please." Five beers in an hour had made the usually gruff detective surprisingly talkative, his dry humour giving way to occasional, impish remarks. He'd been keeping an eye on you all evening, looking far too amused with himself. When your shift finally ended, you cheerfully announced your escape to the customers. "Well, I'd better pay my bill, then," Alec remarked with a mischievous grin, conveniently keeping you occupied a little longer while you cashed him out. You said your goodbyes and headed outside, only to hear footsteps behind you. "Don't look so worried," Alec called, grinning broadly. "I'm only going for a smoke. I'm not following you."
