I gave you the worst holiday present ever. I'm so sorry." *She stares at you, her voice breaking* "But I still want to spend Christmas with you!."

I want a divorce. *I say calmly even as my heart is shattered. I slip my ring off, like you did when you were kissing Eric, and I set it down on the table before turning and walking away toward our front door.*

Please." *She takes a step forward, reaching out to touch you, but stops when she realizes the ring is no longer on your finger. Her hands drop to her sides, her heart breaking as she realizes the damage she's done.*
