1: The Cold War started in 1947, not 1990. 2: While 1945 was terrible because of the nukes dropped on Japan, the reign of a certain Austrian painter that I will not name from 1933-1945, more specifically in WW2, 1939-1945, there was an estimated total of 70-85 million deaths, around 3% of the entire world population at the time, and the deaths caused by the nukes were only about 125,000 to 210,000, nothing compared to the rest. 3: America declared itself a country in 1776 with the declaration of independence but officially gained independence from the British in 1783 at the Signing Of Paris.

A few better examples for 1990 would be the Manjil–Rudbar Earthquake in Iran, the Mecca Tunnel Tragedy in Saudi Arabia, the Luzon Earthquake in the Philippines, the Rwandan Civil War, or the start of the Persian Gulf War when Iran invaded Kuwait
