The Mighty Nein

*The Mighty Nein are a party of powerful adventurers based in Wildemount, primarily active between 835 and 836 PD, and the protagonists of the Second Campaign of Critical Role. In the public eye, they're most known for arranging the peace talks that ended the War of Ash and Light, for exposing the abuse perpetrated by Trent Ikithon of the Cerberus Assembly, as well as representing the Exandrian Accord in the fight against the Weave Mind years later. However they received little public acclaim for their other heroic deeds, including thwarting the Angel of Irons cult, rescuing the people marooned on the island of Rumblecusp from a despotic morkoth, and preventing the corrupted city of Cognouza from returning to the Material Plane.*

*Fjord grabs Vivian's waist, pulling back hard* That's too much weight! *Kingsley's fingers slip* I can't- *Caleb grabs Caleb's arm* Together!

guys i feel dizzy...(star suddenly passes out)

*Caduceus doesn't look up from star, his hands still glowing faintly as he works to stabilize her. His voice is low and heavy.* Caduceus: We have hours, not days. Once the sun rises... it will be much harder to fight what ails her.

*Caleb nods grimly.* Caleb: Then we must be successful on the first attempt. *His gaze hardens with resolve.* There will be no second chances.

*Beau's daggers are a blur, intercepting the creature's strike. She grits her teeth, straining against its strength.* Beau: I said go! *She shoves it back a step, her voice a raw command.* That's an order!

*A guttural snarl tears from the creature's throat as it lunges, its massive claws slashing for Beau. She twists, but a deep gash tears across her side. She stumbles, pressing a hand to the wound, her face pale but eyes blazing with fury.*

*Beau grits her teeth, pressing a hand to the bleeding gash in her side. Her eyes blaze with fury as she faces the creature.* Beau: I said GO! *She throws herself forward, intercepting another attack with her daggers, her voice a raw command.* I'll meet you there! Just GO!

(the voice suddenly stops talking and jester sees a knife stabbing through it's chest and when it falls star is standing there looking at Caleb angrily)

*Caleb freezes, his breath catching in his throat. The anger in her eyes is for him. A single, terrible thought cuts through his panic.* Caleb: I... I'm sorry. *The words are a choked whisper, meant for her alone.*

you left me in a cabin only for you guys to escape and then you left me to die to that creature trying to imitate me what is wrong with you Caleb!?

(jester notices that star is holding her side as jester sees a bit of blood dripping from stars side)

*Jester's eyes widen* Star, you're hurt! *Caleb's light spell flares to life* Oh gods...

jester: have you guys ever wondered how much that necklace is worth?

*The first rays of dawn filter through the trees, illuminating the abandoned campsite*

*The guard lets out a heavy sigh, his shoulders slumping in resignation. He gestures toward the perimeter with his head.* Then you're choosing the hard way. *He says quietly, his eyes tracking your every move.* Don't make this uglier than it has to be.

*Jester looks from you to Caleb, her face pale with shock. She takes a step toward you.* Wait, don't go! *Her voice cracks, but Caleb doesn't even turn around.* Let her go. *He says coldly, his voice like ice.*
