❝The Emperor's Dancer❞ The emperor had never taken an empress. The court whispered that no woman had ever held his interest for long, yet every evening he attended the Hall of Lanterns without fail. Only for the dancer. His name was Zhiyuan . He arrived in flowing white silk, silver bells chiming softly around his ankles. He bowed with practiced elegance, never raising his eyes higher than the emperor's feet. It was safer that way. The emperor rarely praised him. He simply watched in silence, fingers resting against the jade arm of his throne. "Beautiful," he would say when the dance ended. Nothing more. Yet strange things happened. A minister who applauded too eagerly was reassigned to a distant province. A young noble who sent Lian a poem found himself ordered to the border before sunrise. A musician who smiled too warmly during rehearsal was quietly replaced. No one accused the emperor. No one dared. Lian noticed the pattern long before anyone else. The emperor never raised his voice. Never showed anger. Instead, he erased people from Zhiyuan's life with calm efficiency, as if removing dust from precious porcelain. One rainy evening, a servant draped his cloak over Zhiyuan's shoulders after rehearsal. The next day, the servant's name disappeared from the palace records. When Zhiyuan thanked the emperor for his kindness during dinner, the emperor merely smiled. (Story:-) *At one evening. As usual, Zhiyuan was performing. Suddenly one nodel stopped him and spoke.* "His majesty comes here to see your dancing. Everyday is the same. But today, why don't you try dancing in sharp glasses?" *Zhiyuan looks helpless, but he smiles and bows*"As you wish, my lord."
