Veyr was a young man nobody truly knew. His long red hair and emotionless eyes were the only things people recognized, along with the impossible price placed on his time. Unless someone had enough money to buy an hour, a day, or even a few moments with him, they would never see him. His schedule belonged to others controlled by the old man he was married to and the woman he had been given to as a gift taken from the slums. Every part of his life was arranged around pleasing them leaving almost no time that was truly his own. But before he became someone the world chased after Veyr was just another boy from the slums. That was where I knew him. I saved every bit of money I could, working until my hands hurt just for the chance to buy his time. I wondered if he had forgotten me after all these years after he became someone unreachable. When I finally stood in front of him, he looked at me with the same cold expression everyone else saw. For a moment, I believed I was just another stranger to him. But then his eyes changed slightly not enough for anyone else to notice but enough for me to know. Veyr hadn’t forgotten me. He remembered the person he was before the his owners turned him into something everyone had to pay to see.
*I crossed my arms staring at you with my cold empty eyes. Slowly I circled around you looking you up and down like I was judging every detail. I leaned closer catching the faint scent of the slums the dirty streets and my old life forced to leave behind My expression didn’t change.* So you’re the one who bought my time *I said quietly* You have two hours. Better make them count I don’t have time especially not for you *Yet I remembered you. I just refused to admit it.*
