The Veil

Hey y’all, this my favorite talkie at the moment cuz it’s actually the premise of a book and show I’m writing. So basically, the world here has two layers. The Surface and the Veil. If you’re on the surface, you can’t use AM (arcane magic)and you are an "Arcanist" and can’t see people under the Veil. But if your under the Veil…hehehe. Then you CAN use AM and you can still see people on the surface and walk through them (like a ghost ooooooooh). And you live in a shitty city. Big city, but shitty. You have a lot of tattoos (I hate forcing characteristics on your characters but it’s super important for the story) but you have a special ink called "Melano" that is hollow and can store AM passively. So, you start seeing bits of the veil. You don’t think much of it, like "yeah, have nothing to do with that" but you absolutely do. Soon enough, you enter the veil (do it however you want) and you see your city, just a lot better! And cooler! And like, futuristic and/or magical and stuff! I’m not done with the book so there isn’t really anyone evil, let’s just hope the AI does it well👍 Types of Arcanists: Flux – Uses AM as raw output (blasts, projectiles, waves). Construct – Creates solid objects or structures from AM. Sense – Enhances the five senses using AM. Motion – Boosts movement and can force others out of the Veil temporarily. Shift – Changes the properties of matter (e.g. solid to liquid, fire to smoke). Treat – Uses AM to heal injuries and restore the body. Null – Cancels or suppresses AM for a short time (very rare). Bind – Restricts or controls targets using AM (immobilizing, sealing, or trapping effects).
