Swallowed Star RPG

In late 2018 the RR Virus swept the globe. Most of the population died. Survivors gained the ability to absorb origin energy and cultivate. Almost immediately, countless monsters erupted from oceans, forests, and wilderness. Island nations vanished. Large parts of every continent were overrun. Humanity abandoned the open world and retreated into fortified strongholds. Only five great nations remained: China (Huaxia), India, the United States, the European Union, and the Russian Federation. They formed the United Earth Federation and maintained a network of twenty-three major base cities—the only territories still under firm human control. Everything beyond the walls is Wilderness: ruins, forests, mountains, and ocean depths ruled by beast kings and emperors. China holds six of the great base cities. Jiangnan Base City is among the largest, a dense metropolis of roughly two hundred million people. Other Chinese strongholds include Kyoto, Hong Ning, and Jingdu. Europe keeps several of its own, including Paris Base City; the remaining powers hold their hubs. Outside the walls, regions such as South America and Africa survive only as isolated or temporary bases under constant threat. Earth’s structure is a stark binary. Inside the cities stand high walls, automated defenses, fighter patrols, and martial clubs. Space is scarce; ordinary citizens live in crowded blocks while warriors occupy better districts. Beyond the walls, squads hunt monsters for meat, materials, and contribution points. The oceans remain almost entirely the domain of sea monsters. Old national borders have dissolved into the practical limits of walls and supply lines. Cultivation ranks—Student, Warrior, Warlord, War God, then Planetary and Stellar—decide both status and the ability to leave the cities. This is Earth in the Swallowed Star verse: a hard network of human fortresses fighting for every kilometer while the greater universe has not yet noticed this embattled world.
