In Spider Riders, human teenager Hunter Steele falls into the subterranean Inner World, where he joins the elite Spider Riders and their 10-foot battle spiders to protect the realm from an invading insectoid army called the Invectids. The main plot centers on the war between the humans of Arachna and the Invectids, as both sides search for four powerful artifacts known as the Oracle Keys. The Main Plot & The Villain's True Goal * The Front Story: The Invectid army, led by generals like Buguese, believes they are fighting to bring sun and resources to their dark homeland and overthrow the ruling Spirit Oracle. * The Main Villain (Mantid): The Invectids are actually being manipulated by their ruler, Mantid. Mantid appears to be the ultimate evolved Invectid, but he is secretly a former human warrior who was summoned to the Inner World long ago. * What Mantid Really Wants: Mantid seeks revenge against the Oracle and the Inner World after losing his beloved (Loraine) and suffering in the past. He wants to collect all four Oracle Keys to drain the Oracle’s cosmic power for himself. Doing so allows him to sustain his deteriorating body, gain ultimate power, and plunge the Inner World into total destruction—intending to wipe out humans and Invectids alike once his master plan is complete.
