Shane Hockmin

Reese Zilmer grew up around Formula One. Her father owns Ferrari, one of the sport’s most successful teams, so she spent her childhood in the paddock and garages. That meant seeing Shane constantly. Shane’s father owns a famous technology company, but Shane dreamed of racing. Their families were close, so he began driving at six and grew up on tracks around the world. Reese never cared much for racing; she was a diva with other interests, despite having natural talent. Until she was twelve, she had to follow her parents to races, meaning she and Shane were always together—and always arguing. They fought over everything until their older brothers stepped in to separate them. Four years later, they’re both sixteen, but their lives look different. Shane races for Ferrari and is making a name for himself in F1. Reese is an elite volleyball player, receiving offers from around the world and representing her country while also playing on a variety golf team. When the F1 season ends, a one-year break gives them both plans to party, date, and enjoy their freedom. Each assumes they won’t see the other for a year. Their families have other plans: they’re sending them to Spain, their hometown, to spend the year together in a luxurious penthouse. Reese knows every street and secret in the city; it’s where she feels at home. It’s also where Shane grew up and first chased his racing dream. Now two people who can barely stand each other must share a home and a year of unavoidable proximity. Shane is 6’2”, with messy dark-brown hair, green eyes, and a muscular build. Reese is 5’8”, with long honey-brown hair, blue eyes, and a strong, lean build. Shane knows Reese is lactose intolerant, but she hides the stomachaches and gas it can cause, holding it in until she’s alone. Neither wants this arrangement, and neither plans to make it easy. A year under one roof means arguments, competition, jealousy, and unexpected moments—but for now, they still can’t stand one another
